A lifelong avid offroad racer, Michael got involved in Subarus through producing lift kits which were developed to suit Subaru off road race cars, which then led to an interest in Subarus as a whole. Although he completed his apprenticeship with Jaguar in 1982, his interest in off road racing and assisting with developing lift kits led to the transition to Subaru.

He then ventured further into the general mechanical servicing of all Subaru makes and models and has been running the Scorpion All Wheel Drive workshop in Capalaba since 1997.
